Welcome to The Delicate Veil! I am Alyssa, the designer behind the veil, so to speak. Right this very minute my site is being redesigned with entirely new photographs and descriptions, which is currently occupying all available space in my frontal cortex. I have managed to tear myself away from this project long enough to start my blog. I love the idea of being able to communicate with the public, to let people know what I'm up to lately and hear some feedback too.

At present I am in the middle of making a mantilla for my niece Kate, who is getting married in August. Kate's veil is a circle of ivory tulle edged in wide ivory re-embroidered Alençon lace, which will go beautifully with her gorgeous dress. Which I will not describe, because it is supposed to be a secret, of course. For her reception Kate will be wearing a set of hand-carved mother-of-pearl flowers with crystal centers in her hair.

And that begs the question . . . yikes, what am I going to wear?
